ALCALENE® sutures are synthetic, non-absorbable, monofilament, sterile surgical suture composed of coPolypropylene polymer, also known as Polypropylene, and 0.5 percent FD&C Blue 2. The blue color additive FD&C Blue 2 is approved for medical use by the FDA. Color additive does not exceed 1.0% of the suture weight (§74.3102 – FDA).
ALCALENE® sutures meet all the requirements specified for non-absorbable surgical sutures in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).
ALCALENE® sutures are produced as sterile, monofilament, blue colored, USP 6/0 – USP 2 (metric 0.7-5), in various lengths from 10 cm to 150 cm, with or without stainless steel needles.
Sutures are available in packs of one, two and three dozen.
