ALCALACTINE® (PGLA) Absorbable Suture
Poly [glycolic acid (90%) – co – lactic acid(10%)]
ALCALACTINE® Sutures are synthetic, absorbable, sterile, multifilament surgical sutures consisting of a copolymer synthesized from 90% Polyglycolic Acid and 10% L-Lactic Acid. Braided sutures are coated with coating material. The coating material of coated sutures consists of a mixture of Calcium Stearate, Polyglycolic Acid (30%) – L-Lactic Acid (70%).
When ALCALACTINE® sutures are implanted into a living organism, they are absorbed by the organism and do not cause excessive tissue irritation. ALCALACTINE® sutures are non-antigenic and pyrogenic, only a slight tissue reaction occurs during absorption.
ALCALACTINE® sutures meet all the requirements defined in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for absorbable synthetic productions, except that the diameter limits are slightly exceeded in some sizes.
To facilitate the operation, ALCALACTINE® sutures are colored purple, dyed with FDA-approved D&C purple No:2. ALCALACTINE® sutures are produced in sterile, braided purple and beige color, USP 6/0 – USP 2 (metric 0.7-5), in various lengths from 10 cm to 150 cm, with or without a stainless steel needle.
Sutures are available in packs of one, two and three dozen.
