PGLA Absorbable Sutures

Poly (glycolid acid (90%) – co – lactic acid (10%))

ALCALACTINE® sutures are synthetic absorbable sterile surgical sutures which are composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactic acid. The braid structure of the suture is coated. Coated suture is prepared by Calcium Stearate and Polyglycolic Acid (30%) – Lactic Acid (70%) mixture.

ALCALACTINE® sutures when implanted into a living organism, it is absorbed by that organism and cause no undue tissue irritation. ALCALACTINE® sutures have been found to be non-antigenic, non- pyrogenic and elicit only a mild tissue reaction during absorption.

ALCALACTINE® sutures meet all requirements for synthetic absorbable surgical sutures specified at the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) except for diameters which are slightly oversized in some sizes.

In order to ease of operation, ALCALACTINE® sutures are coloured FDA approved D&C violet No:2. ALCALACTINE® sutures have been presented in USP 6/0 – USP 2 gauge sizes in a variety of lengths from 10 cm to 150cm, as non-needled or attached to stainless steel needles of varying types and sizes.

ALCALACTINE® sutures are available as sterile, braided, dyed(violet) strands in sizes USP 6/0 through USP 2 (metric sizes 0.7 – 5), in a variety of lengths from 10cm to 150cm, with or without various needles.

Products are presented in suture boxes with 12 pieces, 24 pieces or 36 pieces.
